My Paper Heart

A few days ago I promised you to write a long blog again. It’s been a long time, so here is my new post.
A month ago I decided to quit my new job. I started working at a graphic design studio but after 2 months I knew it wasn’t the job for me. I had to drive for an hour to work and one hour back. The work itself wasn’t just what I should do. I’ve been thinking about starting my own design/photography studio and start a vintage webshop for some time now. 2010 came in, this was the time to start something new, something I always wanted.

I finished my accounting lessons and I’m ready now for my new start. It took a lot of courage to quit my job but I think it was a good decision. I work parttime with my dad now. It’s perfect. I help him and it makes me feel good. After my mom died, our shop died a little bit too. So I’m working 2 days at our interior shop and also paint 1 or 2 days with my dad. It’s not really the most exciting job, i know. But it feels good to be in my own environment and to work together with my dad. We don’t have the best relationship but we learn and help each other and it feels so good. It gives me the financial help I need and the freedom to start my own little business.

Seeing my mum die, it made me think about the most important things in life. I try to help my dad and try to make him happy again. Family and friends are so important at these moments in life. By working at home, I try to remember that every single day.

The relationship between me and my dad has become better. I’m happy.

When I’m not working with my dad, I’m busy with the preparations of my own design studio. It’s very exciting but also a lot of work. You need some money to start things up and with just a parttime job, it isn’t easy to save something at the end of the month. Luckily I have my boyfriend to help me out wherever he can.

We try to make the best of it.

2 weeks ago we brought a little kitten in our home. He’s very sweet (but also a pain in the ass when he wants to play !)
When I’m working on my computer, he’s always there to cuddle me and to sleep on my tummy.

A few months ago I told you about the movie Paper Heart and yesterday evening we finally watched ‘Paper Heart’ while eating some noodles. I was very excited to watch this movie but it wasn’t the movie I expected. I’m a huge fan of Michael Cera and every movie he plays in, but this wasn’t THE movie I wished it would be. Hmz. Some readers who watched this movie?

Today I finished some things I had on my list for a few days/weeks. I did some phone calls, did the laundry and did some computer work I hadn’t finished in a long time. I also made an appointement at the hospital. It’s been a few weeks since I’m having problems with my jawbones. When I’m eating the right cheek is constantly making this crack noises. It’s weird. My doctor told me to visit a doctor at the hospital. I’m scared for tomorrow, hoping that everything is ok. Since my mom got sick, I’m more worried about things like this. It’s probably just a stupid thing but I always panic. So think of me tomorrow, will ya?

While thinking about tomorrow, I decided there isn’t a better way to spend your time ‘waiting’ than by go shopping. Some new items I bought these past weeks (there are so much more* be patient, pictures soon!) Here are some previews 😉

New dress/sweater

New Ring & Necklace _cute pink huh? (2 euros)

New Earrings ( I guess I’m in love with Hema Pink?) (1 euro)

A very old vintage dress from a vintage shop. I’ll be making a short version from this one and maybe sell it again. Not sure yet. 🙂 In the past weeks I bought a few dresses to try (and fail) new stuff and to see if i can handle a vintage webshop. A try out.
More soon! Excited? Yes!

Enough blogging for today.
Hope you enjoyed. I did.

All my love,

Melissa

Like I promised. My project “Stories”.
This is my final project. I made my own modern adaptations of Snow white & Rapunzel based on their symbolic meaning: growing up and every aspect of being a young adult. Have a look. I’m proud.
